Levi's first smile

Levi absolutely MADE my day this morning. I had just fed him and changed his diaper so he was in a really good mood. We were playing and all of a sudden, he looked right at me and broke out into a huge grin! And no it was not gas! My grandma swears that he smiled at her the other day, but I don't believe her because I had a talk with Levi and I told him that he had to smile at me first. After all, I was the one who carried him for 9 months and went through hours and hours of grueling labor, right? It was all worth it though, when I saw that smile :-)

Life Lessons

Last summer, my best friend Jenny and I decided to start a summertime concert tradition. So this summer, we wanted to keep the tradition going and I was ready for a break from changing diapers and needed a girls night! So we decided to go see Rascal Flatts and Taylor Swift at the Superpages.com center. However, lets just say our night didn't go exactly as planned. In the words of Jenny (as posted on her blog), here are the valuable life lessons we learned from our night:
1. Dallas traffic REALLY sucks.
2. It is NEVER a good idea to attend a "country" music concert EVER.
3. Even when you whisper directly into your friends ear in a loud concert somehow the crazy drunk girl you are referring to will ALWAYS hear you.
4. NEVER believe the shady guy standing in the middle of the street with an orange flag telling you the parking lot is full and that you have to park across the street in front of a bunch of houses with more shady people perched on their porches...fondly known as the ghetto...and then pay him the $10 to do so.
5. (And here's one of my own) A girls chick flick night at home with an ample supply of popcorn and candy is ALWAYS better than being in a crowd of 20,000 drunk people.

So we ended up leaving the concert after about 15 minutes and ended up at the shops at legacy with some Starbucks and window shopping, which was WAY more our style. Does this mean we are getting old?

More pictures

Tonight Johnny's family came over and we went down to the Savannah pool. We've been in our house since September and it was the first time we have gotten to use it. I can't wait until Levi is old enough to swim! He's going to look so cute in his board shorts that his Aunt Rissie got him :-) While me and Johnny were swimming, Nana and Grandpa took lots of cute pictures of Levi. Enjoy.

The McCallons welome Levi

Last Saturday my relatives got together at my parents new house to see Levi and welcome him into the world. It was so much fun to see everyone and let them spend time with Levi and get to know him. He is so blessed to have a family (on both sides) that ADORES him!

It's a good thing guys don't have babies...they were complaining after 5 minutes of walking around with a balloon under their shirt!

My successful attempt at sewing!

I definitely get my "crafty" gene from my grandma. She is the QUEEN of projects. I always loved it when she would come to visit because she was always into something--from scrapbooking to sewing to decoupaging to trying out a new recipe in the kitchen. That's what I love about her, she's almost 80, but she never stops! I only hope to have HALF her energy when I'm her age.
Ever since I was 14 I have wanted to learn to sew, but everytime my grandma would try to teach me, I would get bored and never finish a project. Yeah, I was a little ADD back then. Actually, I think I still am a little bit :-) I have a bad habit of starting projects and never finishing them. Here lately, I have gotten the bug to learn to sew again, so once again my grandma and I drug out my sewing machine, wiped the dust off of it and ventured into another project. Since I am in the baby mindset right now, I decided to try making a gift for my cousin, Brooke's baby shower last Saturday. I actually sewed an applique that I made onto a onesie and made a nursing cover!

This nursing cover cost $6 to make. It is almost identical to the one that I bought for $36.

Here is me and Levi with the mom-to-be, her husband Kanah, and my great aunt Elouise.

Lorin's graduation

Yesterday we took Levi to my cousin Lorin's HS graduation at the UNT coliseum. She graduated in a class of 750! I can't imagine being in a class that big. My graduating class was only 48! She is off to Baylor this fall. Go Bears!

Levi's first bath

Tonight Johnny and I gave Levi is first tub bath and he surprised us both by actually ENJOYING it! We were both prepared for the worst...10 minutes of nonstop crying and screaming, haha. Here are some really cute pics we took of his tub time :-)
